Big Step(s) Forward.

This is Sandbraes beach seen from a tulip tub, one of a number which compete with the flower filled boats I showed off last week. Sandbraes is less than half a mile from the cottage, but when we came down to Arran last week, I couldn't imagine being able to walk there , and in fact really struggled to the point of tears the first time we tried it.

This morning, in bright sunshine, I strode along there and back at power walking pace. A bit sore but so pleased.

I am very conscious that, on blip, we encounter people who are fighting serious illness or living long term with a restrictive disability . By comparison, the problems I've had with my back and legs these last six months absolutely pale into insignificance. But the psychological effect of feeling like a wee old lady was immense and I am elated at the prospect of getting back to fitness.

But also this week, and looking at this view, I'm thinking of a dear friend who would love to be standing where I stood, with health fully restored and the joy of Arran in his heart.
