Yixing
Our trip to Yixing was cut short due to some major bus trouble, but we finally made it Wednesday afternoon. Yixing is know for it's teapots made of "purple" clay. The teapots are completely had built, with no wheel involved. They are amazing. Most of the ones that I could afford were probably slip cast off of originals, but they were still pretty cool. I bought 4, one of which I think might be an original. I'll post a picture of them soon.
They say, that after using a Yixing teapot regularly for 10 years you don't have to add the tea to it anymore. You can simply add hot water and tea will come out. You only one to use one type of tea per pot, and you never wash it with soap.
Some how I made it out of the city without any pictures from inside all of the little shops we visited. I was too busy looking for my perfect teapot. I've never seen so many in my entire life.
This is a picture of a sculpture near one of the markets we visited. It depicts 2 potters working.
