inspired by ancient woodland
We walked in the ancient wood at Low Sizergh Farm today. It has been carefully managed for a number of years by the national Trust.
The trees were only just coming into leaf and had not yet formed a dense canopy over the blanket of wild flowers below. Bluebells mixed with anemones and dogs mercury. Early purple orchid were flowering here and there.
Angela spotted one of these shy little flowers - but once seen, we saw them everywhere. It's called herb-paris, but I prefer its nickname - true lovers knot.
