inspired by ferns

We have been busy in the garden today. The last owner had a passion for ferns. They are just beginning to open. Hopefully, I will be able to identify the different species. This one, I know from seeing it last Autumn, stands at least three feet tall.

I recently learned that the unfurling stem is called a crosier - a term I had only known to describe a Bishop's staff. I see the connection!
