Avocado on Cinco de Mayo

Today was Linden's first day trying solid food. This morning his dad and I had English muffin sandwiches with egg, cheese and avocado for breakfast, so we gave him mashed up avocado, which he loved! I read that avocado is a nutritious and easy first food for babies - no cooking or puree-ing necessary. After reading about starting solids and getting good info from La Leche League resources, I've been noticing signs that he's ready for solids: his digestion changed about a month ago (I won't go into details); he's losing his "thrust" reflex of his tongue pushing out rather than helping him swallow; he's been intrigued watching us eat; he's doubled his birth weight; his pincer grasp and ability to sit on his own are developing well; and he turned 6 months (at which time his stomach is more mature for solids.) He was so eager and did so well - diving into the spoon, helping hold the spoon, and even helping wash his face with the washcloth afterwards.
