Ah, Gai Paris!

Actually, it's not so Gai Christchurch.

I had the good fortune to photograph a beautiful young woman for a magazine article this morning. She was crushed in one of the buildings during the earthquake. She endured 5 hours or so of agony until the rescuers managed to get her out. Then the real trauma began. She underwent surgeries galore, and spent months in hospital.

She suffers from chronic pain every day; some days are better than others.

The smile and the candid way she spoke about her experiences were humbling and a true testament to an incredibly strong young woman.

I decided to post one of my other shots, as I don't know if the magazine would be happy for me to publish the photo before they do!

Certainly feeling very fortunate this evening. My headache has paled into insignificance.
