Mum was discharged late this afternoon. It seems incredible that she is home after everything that has happened. There is still a long way to go, particularly given that she lives alone. Even doing the very basics leaves her breathless, so it will be a slow recovery. At the moment she is only allowed to walk for ten minutes each day and must rest. A lot. (If you read this mum please take note!) The angioplasty is not a cure. She has coronary heart disease and unstable angina, so there needs to be some lifestyle changes and a slower way of embracing the day to day. For now though I am grateful she is home and comfortable. I feel as though I have been holding my breath since Sunday and finally I can begin to breathe again.
