The Hardknott Pass in the Lake District. The steepest, twistiest and most nerve-wracking road in England. I drove over this & The Wrynose Pass today, en route to Wastwater. My palms were sweating at the top: you can't see over the bonnet of the car & you're praying that someone doesn't come the other way as its single-track, and
That means you've got reversing on a narrow twisty road to deal with. 45mins of 1st gear later, I was still in one piece. And the gearbox hadn't burst into flames! Sadly, this isn't MY pic, as I couldn't really get out and snap on the way
