1st Night of Pesach

Tonight we started the festival of Pesach (Passover). Our tradition is to spend this seder night with family in Johannesburg. Over the years the group has got smaller and smaller but tonight another cousin joined us with their three children. It was a pleasant change and we had a wonderful evening together.

Pesach is my favourite holiday because it has so many traditions and symbols. The story of the exodus from Egypt is retold before and during the meal. There are beautiful songs and symbolic food is eaten. There is a renewing of the soul as we remember the miracles that took place.
