Desert Storm
A brutal day.
This was three o'clock and the mountains were virtually invisible...obscured not only by clouds but by blowing dust. The wind all day has been ferocious.
I had to drive into Sahuarita (the next town) for a doctor's appointment and unwisely chose to take the interstate. The car felt like a toy on the road at high speed. I took what was a safer route home but ended up going 25 mph driving through thick dust which was blowing across the road.
Driving through a dust storm is like driving through dense, swirling brown fog.
There's a high wild fire danger. Extremely low humidity (this is the driest month of the year), gale force winds and dry lightning -lightning with no rain- all sets the stage for wildfires in the mountains.
It's been a brutal day. Hopefully calm returns soon.
