Favorite trees
This view of Devil's Peak always adds a great deal of pleasure to the walk back and forth between Obz. I'm told the umbrella-looking trees along the ridge are actually a crazy breed of pine, nonindigenous, brought here by European royalty. They are one of the first things I noticed the morning I arrived here, and I wish there was a way to take one home with me. Unfortunately, this was all the zoom I could give her, but there are also quite a few big game animals having supper just in front of the treeline.
Save for a class here and there with the Gap Years, I'm not teaching at all right now, instead working long days as the interim CFO (they're printing up some "most underpaid CFO in the world" business cards for me). Although it's less inspirational than teaching was, it's nice to know that I'm making an important, direct contribution to SAEP, and it might help my chances of negotiating for a few extra months in Cape Town, which would be awesome!
