No corn flakes here
This morning a born Cape Townian and long-time friend of my Aunt Beverly's treated me to breakfast at the Vineyard Hotel, one of the nicest in the city. Her mother also joined - 86 but sharp as ever, very dignified - and I think she had an interesting time exchanging South African experiences with me. At one point later (my favorite of the conversation), we were eating salmon and capers while she talked about her impressions of the States when she made her first trip there, by sea, in 1938. Very cool. Then we took a walk through the few acres of gardens behind the hotel, and it was back to business as usual.
