Brass Rubbing

Headed up to Glasgow today to do some shopping and meet up with friends for dinner. All a bit strange as this is the first time we have returned to the city without having a house to stay in. Never mind, a night in a city centre hotel still costs a lot less than the council tax and utility bills for a house!

Had a prowl about Merchant City looking for a blip and eventually came across this fellow at the back of Princess Square. He kind of reminded me of a Roman statue, even although he was clearly much more rotund. Now there are many famous statues in the World, where people pay homage by touching or rubbing a particular part of it. The statue of Winston Churchill in the Houses of Parliament is a good example, where the public have touched or rubbed his foot to the extent that it is now polished and quite shiny!

As I studied this blip I realised, that apart from some graffiti, the statue was pretty well untouched other than one small part of his anatomy. You may well have to go LARGE to see what I am talking about, but there again you may not if you are aware he is known locally as Wee Willie!
