Hurlestone Tower
Mr.B and I will be staying with our good friend Dennis at Coupland Castle for the weekend. We stopped off on our way up North so I could capture this tower as I was determined I wasn't going to post any more flower shots this weekend. Later on we'll be heading into Wooler for a few relaxing pints and a curry :-)
This is Hurlestone Tower which was built in 2000 by the owners of Lilburn Tower in the tradition of the country house folly. Since it is functional it was built as a conference venue and is not actually a folly. It's named after the nearby Hurl Stone, an early medieval carved stone cross.
