Or Red Kidney Vetch, Anthyllis vuneraria var coccinea. Most commonly yellow flowered, this red form is very striking, especially when illuminated by the last rays of the sun.

Found wild across Europe, including quite widely across the UK it is easily grown, liking a sunny spot and good drainage. Here it has spread rather too vigorously by self seeding.

Yes, I did get to spend a few hours in the garden in the sunshine today. Nice!!
