Outgoing Mayors Service. Sunday, 13th of May, 2012

Today is the outgoing mayors service at Preston Minster. I think the lady mayor, with her consort have had the usual very busy year, which they have carried out, dilligently. Although politically, I would not be on "their side", I recognise hard work, and salute their commitment. I think there has been some political manoevvres happening with the monarch due to visit the city imminently, and I find some of these activities churlish. I think a compromise has been reached. Anyway, what a splendid photo-opportunity for my flickr buddies and myself. I liked the shot of these three comrades sharing a joke shortly before the off. Today's facebook photography challenge was pipes, and I must admit, I was struggling to think of something. After I parked the car and headed for the service, I heard the skirl of the pipes. Solution. When I worked with some Scots as an aprentice, if you were late for work, you would receive this comment. "Did ye no' hear the pipes?" I love the skirl of the pipes and tried to play them when in the army. Not very well, but I enjoyed the celtic camaraderie. When I reviewed today's shots, I spotted this image, and imagined someone saying, "Did you hear about the Englishman, Irish man and Scotsman?.
I apologise for not being a regular correspondent. I do enjoy the banter with my blipbuddies, and will attempt to comment on your journals more often. By the way, I spotted my first swift of the summer this morning, and my flickrfriend Haz, a very good wildlife photographer spotted his first swallow today. Onwards and upwards.
