"No Gertie, You May Not Go To The Prom"

I could have posted your typical nice Prom picture, where everything is perfect, but I think this is a more accurate take on an evening that was full of teen angst and clothing DRAMA!

Where to start?

So The Date forgot his tie and the only other tie that matched the dress was Nick's tie, the one Nick wore to Prom 5 years ago, the one from the New York Natural History Museum, the one that has the dinosaur skeleton on it...

Then The Date put on his suit, a different one to last time, one that had a 2 inch gap between the leg bottoms and his shoes, one that I vetoed. So out came Tom's tried and trusted 23 year old wedding suit, the one that has seen several teenage boys through formal dinners on cruises, and was now going to save Prom Night.

Then The Daughter tried on the Prom dress, the one she insisted we buy for last years Prom (before she decided she wasn't going to go), the one that we had had altered and which fitted her like a glove last Sunday, the one that was now hanging off her! Some drastic mum stitchery was called for and we managed to sew her into the dress, shorten the straps and realign the bling in one deft move. Phew!

Our three moments of drama over, we could now move on to the photos. Inevitably cats wandered in and out of the pictures, but Gertie decided to stay and then put on her evil face. Classic!
