Literally. My colleague met us in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the start of our holiday to pass us some Uzbek som obtained on the black market, because you get a much better rate that way.

The largest note is worth about 25p, so we had 12 bricks of money each, totalling over a million som. We pretended we'd just been involved in a heist and made the usual comedy jokes about using notes as toilet paper (which we nearly actually had to do later when our bodies were reacting to Central Asian cuisine).
