Winter Solstice

This little girl to me couldn't epitomise the Winter Solstice more! Waiting for  and celebrating the return of the sun!

It was a lovely Winter Solstice gathering at Nellie and Barry's in the woods. A few of us met at the quay and walked up through the woods. Once there an open fire in a washing machine drum outside, candles and the wood burner inside, food and drink and friends made it a relaxed and warm occasion. A more eclectic group of people you couldn't have asked for! Alan - the man with moss hair on flickr link! - stated that christmas was all about hair if you believed its predominance on the tv adverts - well there was a lot of hair at this gathering - mainly on the men! Spoke with the daughter of a friend studying Photography at Bristol - she had an old Hasselblad camera on loan from the university! First time I have ever envied someone their youth and opportunities ahead!
I had to leave early to do the chickens and walked back with Mai,  a fellow chicken coop member, along the road back to the village - 3 times people stopped to offer us a lift! But we were happy walking in the dark and fine drizzle!!
Returned to my sister who came this morning with a stinking cold/flu and has slept ever since! I have roused her on and off for drinks, food and medication!
Here's to the return of the light!
