Newcastle United 0 Sunderland 1

Went to the match.  1.30pm kick off.  Newcastle was packed with football fans and shoppers.  Weather was wet.

The score was 0 -  0 until the 90th minute and then Sunderland scored.  No time for Newcastle to get even.  So another defeat to our bitter rivals.

i took this shot before kick off.  There are two of these flags which are paraded around the pitch and if Newcastle score they are unfurled during the match.  So this was the only sight of them we got today.

Usually on derby day there is a lot of clashes between rival fans but this year it seems to have been .more or less trouble free.

I did some shopping after the match.  The shops were very quiet.  Strangely quiet..  In one large shop I was the only customer.
