Susans' Christmas Cake for 2014

Just time to capture Susan's Christmas Cake before we sett off on the 450 mile drive to Edinburgh. Shame we will have to wait until we get back to sample it.

We left Maidstone at 9.30am and arrived, after a 3 stop strategy, in Edinburgh at 7.00pm. A very good journey up the east side of the country under the circumstances, except for one diversion around J47-48 on the A1(M) where congestion was signposted, so we came off and ran on the A168 which went alongside the motorway - but we couldn't see anything causing a problem.

The only other annoyance was a plethora of speed restrictions through non-existant roadworks, especially on the single carrigageway section north of Morpeth. Why?

Oh, and the other thing, just as we crossed the border into Scotland, down came the rain so much so that by the time we arrived in Edinburgh is was blowing a gale and raining heavily.
