Sunset on Lonely Beach, Koh Chang

We manage to get up early today and head straight to the bus station.  We get a ticket for the 8am minibus which will take us to the ferry port where we can travel to Koh Chang.  We're a little hungover and head to a coffee shop for breakfast while we wait for the bus.

The journey takes just over four hours and is easy.  Thai driving looks much easier and more orderly than in Vietnam or Nepal and the roads are loads better.

We get on the ferry and its about a 45 minute crossing to Koh Chang.  We've decided we're going to head to Lonely Beach and jump in the back of a four wheel drive taxi with a few others for the journey.  We meet a German couple and a couple of English guys all heading for the same destination.  When we arrive, we wander up and down the street in search of reasonably priced accommodation.  Understandably lots of places are fully booked but we find a beach hut on the Sunflower Resort site ... basic but with its own bathroom and hot shower and good value.

We have some lunch then wander to the beach.  Its not a very big beach but a lovely curving stretch of pale yellow sand with jungle behind ... there are a few people here but its certainly not packed.

We watch the sun set over the sea then head back, shower, change and go out for a lovely dinner at fish restaurant.  After dinner we head to the beach bar and meet up with the German couple again.  We have a few beers and watch a cool fire show then try to head to bed but soon realise there is going to be pumping music well into the early hours ... oh well ear plugs in and we'll have a go.

So far, we're liking the vibe of the place.  Yes, its a bit back-packery but there's also an older crowd and it feels quite chilled.
