Its beginning to feel a bit like Christmas
After setting the alarm, and managing to turn it off ... we wake late again! Julia, a friend of Farida's who lives in Bangkok has been in touch via Facebook but we only pick up the message at midday. She lives not far from our hotel and invites us round late afternoon or in the evening when she has some other friends coming for drinks. We are off to do some sightseeing so say we'll see how we go ... typical we didn't pick the message up earlier.
So, we decide to head over to the Royal Palace via boat. By the time we've had breakfast and made our way over there its late and there's no point us paying in as it closes early. We wander around the area for a while then gravitate towards the infamous Khao San Road ... just to see what its like! We stop for a drink then some food and meet an English guy who lives out there. A few beers and lots of chat later and the evening is running away with us. We text Julia to say we're still over the other side of town so won't make it to hers. It turns out she's going to be on Koh Mak (an Island near Koh Chang where we're going) between the 27th and 31st December so we can hopefully see her then or when we're back in Bangkok in the new year.
We had thought we might go to the Thai Boxing tonight but, again, time runs away with us and it doesn't happen.
One thing about Bangkok is that it feels really Christmasy. There are trees and lights everywhere ... Fred loves it. Andy not so much.
