The loneliess of a long distance cockle collector
The moon is new, the tides are low and so the time had come to collect some mussels and cockles. Leave the house and before long one is in a maze of islands and sandbanks, mostly full of mussels with a few cockles thrown in for good measure.
The evening, after some Kallin lobster and prawns, saw us visit the Balavanich Community Centre Family Christmas Ceilidh - for about two minutes before Tricia realised it was perhaps aimed at a younger or older market that our 20,21,56 and 57 year old spread. Pints had to be drunk in the Dark Isle to overcome the pain.
