A tangle of moss
Today's Tor was Beardown Tor after which there had to be an intrepid crossing of the West Dart river - sans bridge. This led us to Wistman's Wood where this image was taken. Stunted ancient-looking oaks that are fighting against the wind to grow taller and all sitting on a green carpet of moss. Stunning spot.
On the return to Buckland a pint was partaken of in the Rugglestone Inn - always a pleasure. The turkeys there in the garden two weeks ago were noticeably absent.
The afternoon's entertainment was going to Dawlish Warren to try and twitch the Bonaparte's Gull that has been there for a bit. Needless to say we failed but enjoyed the Brent Geese on the golf course as well as a diver offshore.
