You are the face of a thousand flowers
A year ago today death came as a friend and took Mum gently.
I miss her.
These are some of the things that remind me of Mum and represent a little of her presence in my life.
- her hand written Lemon Meringue Pie recipe
- a photo she treasured of her and Dad, taken on the first sailing day he left NZ (they weren't yet engaged and she was non-committal as to whether she would wait!). He was away 21/2 years.
- china from back in the day. Mayonnaise in the jug and lettuce and tomatoes on the dish
- the back of the hand mirror on her dressing table with the crystal container behind where our pocket money and Sunday School offerings were kept
- some of the knitted covered coat hangers she made
- Mum's bible
- Impatiens flowers from her garden
- a cushion cover she hand stitched
- a painting Mum did for Dad while he was at sea
Mum, you are the face of a thousand flowers.
Love, hpx
