No 114: Sanderling
I said 150 by the end of the year, so that means at least one a week on average. Today we went to RSPB Old Moor which is often good for something new - it was a lifesaver during my consecutive 50, and whilst this photo of a sanderling is not the best, it was after all quite a long way off - it represents a new numbered bird blip, and a lifer! You can't have everything! Yet again, I could have chosen a tree sparrow, but that may stand me in good stead on some future occasion. One of the best things about Old Moor is the range of wildlife - I saw a lifer butterfly - a dingy skipper - and a hare. Pete also saw a stoat, but sadly I missed that.
