Bian lian

The school took us out for a meal on Christmas Eve. We went to a renowned Szechuan restaurant for food and this performer came on at the beginning of the meal. This is called bian lian which means face changing. He pranced around on the stage and every minute or so ripped a paper mask off to reveal a new paper mask underneath. Each mask portrayed a different emotion to suit the dance. It was a bit odd but quite interesting.
