"Party like its your birthday..."

Back Blip: oh wait it is! Today I have turned 27.

I was woken up at 5am to open my birthday cards and presents before the other half went off to work, with a cup of tea and a song. Feeling very loved by family and friends who are close by and further afield. Found my mother's version of 'happy birthday' endearing (and its also clear where I get my lack of singing ability but much enthusiasm from!) before having a chilled out day pottering around the flat and baking in preparation for tomorrow's party.

Throughout the day my phone has beeped with the facebook brigade of birthday wishes and text messages. Now I'm just getting ready for my birthday meal and drinks with the other half in town.

On reflection 26 has been a good year. K and I have our own flat and are quite content; I've had 2 good placements which have given me added confidence and shown me what I am capable of doing; and I'm really looking forward to the next year!

Delayed posting this so I could comment on the evening. On reflection, although I love my new outfit which K gave me for my birthday, I think the weather was not quite appropriate! Walking into town everyone else was wearing blacks, greys and dark blues while I was a pace off skipping down the street in my coral dress and contented smile on my face listening to Your Song and She's Always A Woman on my way to meet K. We went to The Basement on Broughton Street and our meal was lovely. I forfeited the desert in favour of a cocktail and then off to new town for drinks with some others. Lovely evening and even better ... no hangover! Here's to a great 27th year =)
