Harlaw Reservoir

An early morning stroll around Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs was a popular destination today for a large number of Edinburgh folk. The place was very busy, crowded with people walking off the excesses of yesterday and walking assorted dogs. Cold but quite clear, the perfect antidote to Christmas Day.

The remainder of the daylight hours were spent indoors with various children milling around before it was time for a night out in Edinburgh.

The 44 bus, although not the quickest mode of transport known to man, is very convenient and deposited us on Princes Street around the corner from our first destination - the Guildford Arms, which to our surprise was closed! It was however, just a short walk to the Cafe Royal where we were lucky to procure a seat.

A couple of drinks and some food later we made our way to the Dome on George Street to enjoy a cocktail and admire their outstanding decorations - which are in a league of their own. The evening was rounded off with coffee at the Tempus Bar of the George Hotel, also on George Street before catching the last 44 bus back to Balerno.

A very good evening all around.
