Dusk on the A1 between Newark and Grantham

The long trek south from Edinburgh today. What wonderful weather; clear blue sky and bright sunshine but cold. Masses of opportunties to get some wonderful shots but as we were on a mission to get back to Kent we couldn't stop every 5 minutes to take a photograph.

The early part of the journey along the coast to Berwick was a delight, great veiws especially of cliffs and sea with surprisingly little traffic for this part of the A1. Around Newcastle there was a bit of a jam owing to an accident and we had to do a detour along the M62 and M18 to avoid long delays on the Doncaster bypass but other than that it was thankfully an uneventful journey.

The sun had long set by the time we reached these services for a convenience stop but there was still a glow in the sky so while the others made use of the facilities I rested the camera on a handy table and snapped away.
