Porty People and Places

Each to their own ...

The Dooker *  and The  Jogger ....

Yes it was really, really cold on the beach early this morning.

The gritting lorry was making heavy weather of defrosting our road.

The pavements were in danger of becoming a fast track to A and E (courtesy of the classic Colles' Fracture of the wrist ).

The Blipper I met, on the beach, with his new  Christmas lens and flashy tripod was packing up, without any blips, due to acute misting of the lens. A problem caused, I think, by driving to the beach in a very warm car.

I was pleased to learn, from  Polish friends, that snow has finally arrived in Warsaw, overnight, after a wet and mild Wigilia.   We loved working in Poland in the real winters there. They also had  real summers too. Autumn and Spring, by contrast,  would often last less than a fortnight!

Our baby heads for the brighter lights of London town later today - he might just get there in time for Hogmanay but with the current state of Network Rail's over running engineering work - who knows?

* Dooker is Scottish for a swimmer, especially at this time of the year who "ducks" into the water. The swimmer in my blip is part of the Porty Sea Swimmers who swim in wild waters around Scotland in all weathers.
