DS#2 on the ball as ever
3:30 pm and it is already getting dark. This is one of our favourite beaches, one where we used to camp in the good old (I,e, cold and wet) days before we had the house. In fact I think it was the first place I ever camped on North Uist over thirty years ago.
At low tide a vast expanse of sand backed by an impressive section of machair and you can get the car right down to the beach. And the colour of the sea is always turquoise even on a dull December day such as today.
Today we revisited those camping memories by cooking sausages and bacon in the shelter of a sandbank on a hi-tech wood burning stove, so hi-tech it charged my phone whilst cooking - you don't get better gadgets than that!
The buoy on the beach not surprisingly ended up as a football but was deemed rather too hard for the delicate feet of the Darling Sons.
High excitement and a late supper this evening as Charlotte A arrives at about 10:30 pm having been travelling all day. Not sure how much she will want as the ferry sounded quite lumpy....
