Bowkers Bridge

This bridge was still in use on the state highway until 1962 and is one of the last examples of arched stone bridges on the Old Coach Road to Otago.

It is on the highway from Palmerston to Alexandra.  

I left Hamden this morning and headed towards Middlemarch.  It took me the better part of the day to get here because I had to keep stopping to take photos.  What fantastic scenery!  I just love the big sky and wide expanses of gold grass and schist rock.  

This evening we went down to Deep Stream to fill the water tanks and the kids and dogs had a swim - us adults just waded up to our knees.  But I think I'll be taking swimwear tomorrow evening.
