Finished & Still Standing

The last time I shot this sand sculpture it was just beginning to take shape near the basketball court (the area that passes for our zocolo) downtown. This morning I felt I must capture the finished product before it fades away, even though it has survived for more than a week and a couple of days of rain. Only a few footprints mar this Christmas gift to the community and people, such as myself, are still photographing it as they pass by on their way to breakfast and boat rides. I imagine it will be removed with the tree and other decorations, but the artist is already at work on a New Year's sculpture on Playa La Ropa. I sense another sandy blip on the horizon.
