Christmas Day 2014

It was an early start, Orla was awake at 6.30am. As it was Christmas Day, we let her have some chocolate in bed. Then we all got up and ready and went to see what Santa had left! Orla was so excited emptying her sack and opening her presents. Conor stole the remnants of Rudolph's carrot and walked around chewing it for a bit before he started to show any interest in the presents!

Once the turkey was in the oven we went to Wetherby for a short riverside walk. It was an absolutely beautiful day and the ducks certainly seemed to enjoy their Christmas bread! It's not very relaxing walking along a river with a rambunctious one-year-old though, so we didn't stay out long.

Once we got back Uncle Charles arrived and we had drinks and canapés. Orla has discovered that she loves mince pies, so she had a mince pie. The thing she is enjoying most about Christmas is being allowed to eat whatever she likes. We watched the Queen's Speech then settled down for dinner around 4pm. Orla's favourite bit - pulling crackers. She has a technique now to make sure that she always wins.

After dinner we opened more presents then Ed and Charles went through all their childhood toys that had been brought down from the attic, arguing over amicably discussing who was getting what. We went back to the table for Christmas pudding (which Orla also loves) but everyone was pretty bushed by then, so it was an early night. But not for Conor, who was still going strong at 11.30.

Here's a video of them opening their presents.
