Weather Watch

This little gadget is one we use every day, often several times a day, as a weather monitor and is pretty accurate on it’s predictions as well.
Not that we need a weather station to tell us that it’s freezing outside this evening. Nor indeed that it is minus 1.6 degrees. We know very well that it’s not the type of evening when we will want to venture far from the warmth and comfort of home.
Small wonder that the little electronic icon of our weather man is huddled up in his overcoat. It’s five hours ago that I was making a trip to catch the post, and it was already getting very chilly then.
A friend had called by and said she had tentative plans to go out this evening, but she was in two minds about doing that if the mist came down and the roads looked icy.  Wise lady, and when she said her alternative was an already prepared shepherd’s pie which she would enjoy at home, we knew instantly which was to become the favourite option.
We did not need our little weather man to tell us this, but his indication was that it would only get colder during the evening. So much so that while we did not wrap up in an overcoat, a sweater was necessary even though the heating was on all day.

Brrr.  The evenings should grow longer from here on, but I can’t wait for Spring!
