All downhill from here...

The van wound its way around countless hairpin turns, over the ridge top, and down the other side of a mountain chain to the wooded valley where today's hike began. We ambled along a dirt road that followed this river, which allows the people to grow crops all year long. Visible now are corn, peas, flowers, bananas, oranges, and melons.
In Jalapa del Valle, our destination village, we enjoyed sandwiches and cold drinks before returning to Oaxaca via a much shorter but less scenic route!
