Minerve

Drove out to the amazing town of Minerve. The town is on a gorge and has steep sides with a bridge across. There's a monument to 140 Cathars who were massacred there because they would not renounce their faith. 

The river bed was completely dry and we were able to walk along it and through a huge cave. Can't imagine what it is like when the river is in full spate. There were some flood markers along the edge that gave us an idea of what it can be like. 

Lots of dragonflies, hoverflies, huge carpenter bees, ants and grasshoppers around. Beautiful spot.
