Reconditioned well, Last of the year.
Africa is littered with broken pumps and failed wells. Many have very expensive pumps and have cost unsuspecting donors millions of dollars, Euros or pounds. Many were installed for the honour and glory of God, but many were unfit for purpose.
If a pump can't deliver clean water all day, every day for years. Then it is a waste of time. If a pump can not be maintained by local women, then I would be very suspicious of its worth, unless It has a cast iron maintenance contract. Most broken pumps we meet, were installed and forgot the and this is one.
I have no report on this pump, but it may have been installed 8 years ago and may have out or use for 7 of those.
This well was cleaned out, water treatment added, new pump installed and away we go. Just the cost of the pump, 40 Euros, then a bit of cement , fuel and labour and 250 villagers have clean water again, have returned to the filthy swamp in the interim period.
