Tony

A family party today at my cousin's, to celebrate his daughter's 30th birthday. She adores guinea pigs, and has half a dozen as pets, so her birthday cake was beautifully crafted in the shape of an overgrown guinea pig. Unusual to say the least!

There were lots of children at the party, including birthday girl's five year old daughter, who was closely welded to her favourite Christmas present: a doll in the shape of Elsa, the lead character in the Disney film Frozen. At the flick of a switch, she sang the film's theme song, Let It Go. I lost count of the number of times we heard it today ...

Sitting quietly in the corner enjoying having all the family around him was my Uncle Tony, who will celebrate his 98th birthday this summer. He is on the mend from a broken femur a couple of months ago, caused by falling over when he was trying to bump-start a classic motorcycle he had just bought. Crazy? Well maybe, but good on him. You only live once.
