Framing workshop

Today was the second of my 4 once-weekly sessions at the St. Mary's complex learning about picture framing. I always thought it was about carpentry, but it's really about choosing the right materials for the job and preparing and assembling them using specialist machinery and a lot of care. We all have a personal project on the go, but are learning from each other's very different requirements, and as an extra we framed an artwork by one of the resident artists - she was delighted with the results.

After 5 hours on that I had another course to go to, also a once-a-week 4 session jobbie but only two hours long. It's a Road to Recovery course run by the Brain Haemorrhage Support Group at Neurosupport, and will feature talks by the lovely specialist nurse from the Walton Centre, a neurosurgeon and a psychologist specialising in this area. I talked to other fellow survivors, and discovered a lot of shared experiences in what happened to us then and afterwards. Whether any of us remember tomorrow what we said is another matter! The coffee and biscuits were excellent, I do remember that.

Two big things in one day - I may have to unplug tomorrow.
