If you can't beat them...

Exposure manouvers in the dark!

There was supposed to be a meteor shower tonight!   We agreed to meet "The Mate" out in the middle of nowhere to see if we could spot any and have a bit of experimenting with shots of stars.

A bright moonlit might is not good for either shooting stars or taking shots of stars (I almost described that as "shooting stars" but felt it wouldn't make sense.  Fortunately "The Mate" has a dormobile conversion on a Land Rover so there was somewhere nice and warm to retire to and make a brew.

I intended to try the built in intervalometer on the Pentax but I should have practised first rather than try fiddling in the dark with a torch.  I did get some star shots but not taken at intervalls to merge so all things being equal I prefered this shot of the moon and the "Mackerel sky" (altocumulus clouds).  The long exposure has resulted in them having an interesting blurred effect a bit like using an HD filter.
