Welcome to Archway (Frame Within a Frame)
Archway, better known as Lowgate, is known for several things:
1) its many many kebab stores.
2) its many many roadworks.
3) suicide bridge, under which this photo was taken.
4) a general feeling that every adjacent neighborhood is nicer than ours.
Case in point, we went for a walk today to Highgate (to the north) with Ali and Rowan (pictured) to experience the high life up on the hill. Subsequent walks in later weeks to Hampstead (to the west) and Kentish Town (to the south) also revealed much nicer hoods. Only Finsbury Park (to the east) is grungier than our lovely Archway.
That being said, we've made it our home. Anyone can get used to crackheads and council estates in no time. Plus I've been told by a reliable taxi driver that Archway is "up and coming." That's right, we're Shoreditch a couple of years ago. Maybe we'll be Camden in 10 years. Who knows.
If memory serves right, in the evening we invented TTTP (table tennis toilet paper), the first of what is meant to become a whole olympic roster of games. I think its also the night we went to Angel in the evening for a gamble night out with Gabe, which saw the first of many times spent at Wahaca playing foosball. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be living in Angel next year, definitely the best neighborhood around.
peace
