Fun's over

At the end of George Street, Edinburgh's own little slice of Holland where you get to cycle in lanes that cars shouldn't be in, they seem to have been putting up helpful little signs telling you what to do now that your lane has vanished. You can't help imagining people cycling along, stopping, and then getting stuck, perplexed, wondering what they should do now. And fearing that they might then be trapped or might ride on the pavement, conflicting with pensioners and prams, little signs were put up. For the avoidance of doubt.

Still, the problems of cycling through the relatively civilised and quiet traffic don't seem quite such a big problem any more today. I'm not exactly Charlie for riding a bike.
