When the house went dark.

A normal evening was interrupted by a bang, then blackout at 9pm

A call to the very helpful Scottish Power Energy, and we knew it would be up to 3 hours before an engineer would be there to investigate. We loaded up the family in the car and headed down to Grans to camp out for the night.

At 11.30 I went back home to see very friendly engineer, and was met with the bad news that the main power cable under the footpath outside our house has broken. He knew this from hearing a sporadic thumping noise from the cable under the ground, that I wouldn't have noticed until told.

He temporarily connected our power for the night using the neighbours main feed to keep the fridge, freezer, and boiler running... While we wait for the digger and repair team to arrive tomorrow morning.
