Flowerpot friend in Prapradaeng

After a good night's sleep we have a lazy breakfast on the balcony and Julia and Udo take us to Wat Klong Toey where we cross the river by boat to Prapradaeng, known as Bangkok's Green Lung.

Its a bizarre green area in the middle of concrete Bangkok.  Surrounded by river, its covered in lush, green jungle and there is very little traffic compared to the rest of Bangkok.  Julia and Udo leave us to it and we hire bicycles to explore.  There are no high rises and its basically an unspoilt, mainly residential area with a few local shops and other attractions.  After cycling for quite a while we find the floating market and stop for some lunch and a rest.  There's a lovely picnic type area with wooden seating and lots of people are relaxing here and having lunch.  We then get back on the bikes and find the Siamese Fish Fighting Gallery ... its almost deserted with not a fighting fish in sight.  We try to get some sense out of this fella who is hanging out there but no joy.  We cycle back to the pier where there are some young boys practicing their Thai Boxing so we watch for a while then take the boat back over the river.

We have some food then head back to the apartment.  Julia and Udo have been to play badminton tonight and are back to work tomorrow after their Christmas break so we all head to bed.
