2nd January 2015: The "White Temple"
Took a long trip today to visit the northwestern town of Chiang Rai and the "Golden Triangle" where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet across the mighty Mekong river. The main highlight of our trip was Wat Rong Khun, which is known almost universally as the White Temple. Actually it is more of an art exhibit, in the form of a temple, containing a plethora of religious symbolism.
The pieces of mirror, which are embedded in the structure, reflect light in a manner which really uplifts the spirits. The height of the Naga-sided bridge hides the vast numbers of visitors crossing to the temple, thereby enabling amazing views across the ornamental lake.
