Never seen so many
We had so many goldfinches in the garden today it was hard to count them as they pushed for a space on the feeders. They were on the fence, in the trees and on the ground. I counted at least 30 around the feeders with greenfinches and chaffinch. The starlings popped in to feed on the suet. The woodpecker was down and all the tits , blackbirds, robins and dunnocks busy filling up before the storm.
Fieldfares and redwings were in the fields again flying off en masse.
I liked the way the light shone through the goldfinches wings, what a great colour.
Changeable weather after a night of rain and wind. Heavy snow, sleet and rain but also long periods of sun. Just hoping that climbers and hill walkers take heed of the weather warnings and stay put until it improves. Two climbers had to be rescued from the Cairngorms yesterday, luckily they were able to phone a friend with their coordinates
and were well equipped but it put others in danger.
David is home safely and no college tomorrow and Richard is staying at Ashlenes just incase. Will wait and see if I can get to the Puffin Pool with Anne in the morning.
