Dad

Today was Dad's requiem mass and funeral.  The four of us daughters carried his coffin into the church as the muffled bells rang out.  The  readings were well chosen, kind words were spoken about him, there was plenty of incense and good old fashioned hymns.

Later we went for afternoon tea.  It was a cheery, quite jolly affair as old friends started reminiscing about things Dad had said and done, couples who have know my parents for forty plus years, all remembering him with smiles and laughter.  It was a lovely atmosphere and you could almost imagine he was there amongst us.   We all agreed, he would have thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a photo of Dad and me in June 2014.
